Me. Fall 2016. Marin County, California.

This necklace is from Laura Kimpton, her large instillations may be found at Burning Man, and she has a retail store in the bohemian town of Fairfax, California. Louis Vuitton is also making gold initial necklaces, $480 each. See below from In Style Magazine,

I can’t remember where I bought this shearling jacket, but it was used and I knew it was a seriously amazing find. My psychic style powers told me that shearling was going to be huge again – and I was right. I love this jacket, but it’s a little bulky and boxy. Shearling can have a luxury, designer look, a downtown NYC look, a mountain, preppy LL.Bean look or even a bohemian 70’s look..depending on the jacket and how you style it.

Seen here on me is my 90’s style – reminds me of Mary J. Blige and the street style of Jennifer Lopez, and Hip-Hop artists in NYC during that period. I took an American Apparel strapless one piece, and cut it  – it’s a little crooked (I never cut in a straight line).

My enormous Louis Vuitton Speedy bag, which is really sold as luggage. I bought these Timberlands at Century 21 in NYC…

Does this braid make me look a little bohemian?

Paige Denim, love these jeans – not sure if I love the way my butt looks..but they are comfortable and not skin tight.

My dorkiest face – only adding to this look!!

Autumn was raised in Aspen and after living in Los Angeles and London, she and her man (a Brit) decided to raise their family in this gorgeous town.  I love hanging out with Autumn in Aspen because she knows everyone and is so fun! Even with a “newish” baby, Autumn makes time to go out. It’s hard being a new mom, and very important to remember your individual self outside of motherhood  –

How cute are they? Love Autumn’s use of layering with her pearl chains. And her exposed shoulders add a little classy sexy edge…

Rompers are so current – just in this weekend’s New York Times, Fashion of the Times featured Taylor Swift, as the fashion teacher when it comes to rompers. The spread shows New Yorkers on the street, beating the heat in adorable rompers. Naju says this jump suit is the easiest staple to throw on, and still look fashionable running after a toddler.

Colombian Mamas make Miami SEXIER. Haute Drop-Off.

DSC_0091DSC_0090

Miami. January 2015.

This is really how they do grunge in Colombia.  I mean the country Colombia.  This was taken at a kids jump place, called Sky Zone. I love how these women have taken the re-surfacing style of grunge, and paired ripped jeans with sexy tanks and designer belts/bags.  Miami is special in so many ways—-and it’s hard to leave the house without making an effort, because this is the norm.

Fashion Notes: Belts: Hermes and Moschino, Bags: Louis Vuitton and Chanel, Sneakers: Converse

Caryn. Aspen, Colorado. August 2014.

Caryn likes quality, as I assessed during our conversation about fashion.  Residing in Miami with her husband and two kids, Caryn was another lucky mama able to enjoy the incredible Aspen summer.  When I talk about Aspen, I feel a little weird, because it sounds a bit out of touch..and I get that most people aren’t using “summering” as a verb – i’m certainly not.

Like i’ve mentioned before, Miami is brutal in the summer and people who can escape the humidity to hike, bike and be outside in gorgeous Aspen – definitely take full advantage. This is why Aspen is filled with Dallas and Miami visitors in the summer – they all need an escape.   Aspen is a town filled with high end stores, amazing thrift shops (I will share my finds soon), music festivals (mostly classical and Jazz), bars, free buses etc… It’s a gift to be able to breathe the fresh air in the summer and spend time with my family.

And talk about music..besides the incredible musicians you hear all over town, studying at the prestigious Aspen Music School, Aspen is also home to the iconic Belly Up.  Belly Up is a special place to hear music in an intimate setting.  We saw Ryan Adams, Super Diamond (The Neil Diamond cover band) and Aimee Mann and Ted Leo.  Every night at Belly Up is another impressive band..some less known..some famous..but all really unique and talented.  And back to fashion….

I LOVE Caryn’s white Celine handbag.  White “pocketbooks” were really big this summer, I got an amazing one..and will be wearing it all year, winter white baby! And I’m pretty confident white leather boots, will be worn on the most fashionable feet this fall….

Fashion Notes: Handbag: Celine, Shorts: J.Crew, Cashmere Sweater: Chan Luu, purchased at the boutique 02 Aspen, Sunglasses: Prada, Watch: Cartier and Flip-Flops: Louis Vuitton

Leanne. Doctor. Mom. Coral Gables, Florida. January 2014.

Fashion Notes: Top: Velvet from Pitkin County Dry Goods in Aspen, Jeans: Lucky Brand, Watch: Marc Jacobs, Necklace: Aspen Farmers Market vendor, Handbag: borrowed from me (mara) is vintage Coach purchased at Lola’s in Fairfax, CA, with an added gold chain taken off one of my mother’s cool clutches.  Earrings: Stella & Dot, Brown boots: Bed Stu Boots found at Nordstrom or Zappos.

Bed Stu is a company named after the Brooklyn neighborhood of Bedford Stuyvesant, an area that is filled with amazing history and soul, now it’s seeing a lot of changes a long with many neighborhoods in Brooklyn, becoming a hipster haven.  Hopefully, BedStuy will remain a place where the original residents are not affected by high rents and all that comes with gentrification.

Since Leanne is a doctor and mother of two, when she is in Aspen, where she spends a good amount of time with her family, she has time to shop.

The town of Aspen is great for avid shoppers, small family owned stores with unique finds and bigger more price friendly stores like J.Crew and Gap rub elbows with luxury boutiques such as Prada and Louis Vuitton.  Not to mention, Aspen is a fun fashion sightseeing city.
