The Creatives at Drop-Off

Chris Natrop. Dad. Artist. Minnesota Street Project. San Francisco. Summer 2016.

Chris describes his work as a “practice centered on the act of cutting paper, http://www.chrisnatrop.com.  Executed free form and exclusively with a knife, it has evolved into a stream-of-consciousness drawing technique, a meditation of repetition and reduction” What I find interesting about Chris’s work is how he cuts paper with no intended plan – for someone impulsive like me, I feel I could start saying all my work is intentionally not planned. I’m only kidding, Chris’s work was shown at The Minnesota Project in San Francisco this summer and documented by the artsy and the cool art world photographer and filmmaker, Eric Minh Swenson (photo of Eric below)

I got to follow Eric around for a day, he was my contemporary art world pied piper, and I gladly obliged.  A character in his own right, Eric knows EVERYONE in the art world, and they know him – nothing holds Eric back, he’s not afraid to walk into the coolest art parties and leave with it all documented on film. From documentaries to stills to writing, Eric is a modern day renaissance man (it took me a long time to spell that).  Want to be in the Art World “know”? check out Eric’s Huffington Post coverage, http://huff.to/2ctGOWO – follow Eric on Instagram – he’s fun, sarcastic and his photos will shock, inspire and add a little culture to your life, instagram.com/ericminhswenson

When you are running around San Francisco, you have to be in flat shoes – hiking in heels, even on pavement – is ridiculously hard.

Beautiful LA family, bringing inspiration via fashion and art to all of us.

LA Style in Aspen. Haute Drop-Off.

Moranda. Aspen. August 2015.

Moranda and her family just moved from Los Angeles to Aspen this week – I spotted her at the local park with her family.  We have a lot in common – Moranda and her husband send their kids to a Waldorf school too…see how hip Waldorf parents can be?

Ya know what I love about Aspen summer weather? You can wear jackets and boots!! And your hair still looks good – it’s not humid. I find places like Miami so hard to dress stylish – it’s just so hot in the summer, you really have to wear next to nothing.

It takes a lot of guts to move to a new city, especially from a large, metropolitan city like LA to a smaller town like Aspen. But I obviously understand the appeal – it’s empowering to start fresh and fun to live in a place that’s small.  Kids in Aspen have a lot more freedom.

And Moranda brings great style to a town known for its workout style. At night in Aspen, you see great fashion and during the day you see exercise clothing, but stylish exercise clothing. Ripped leggings, off the shoulder crop tops, bright sneakers and funky sunglasses. It’s refreshing to see some LA fashion make its debut during prime “hiking” hours.

The cobblestone streets of Aspen make it very hard to wear anything other then sneakers, sandals or boots..heels are kind of impossible in this town.

Chris. Mom. Stylist. Entrepreneur. San Anselmo, California. September 2013.

Chris is a stylist in the commercial and film industry.  Hailing from a small town in Minnesota, Chris moved to San Francisco after college, where she began her career as a fashion stylist.  Chris also met and fell in love with her “amazing and gorgeous” husband while they were both working on a movie. Three years ago they moved from San Francisco to Marin County and are “overjoyed with the barefoot lifestyle up here”.

Fashion Notes: Alexander Wang handbag, Theyskens' blazer, Rag and Bone boots and apparel from H &M and target.  I find that individuals with natural style (including yours truly :)) are gifted in the art of mixing designers and price points.  Chris wears her style well and tends to frequent the same look a few days in a row…I can relate to that as if I find a jacket I love, I will wear it with everything.  I also really like Chris's bedazzeled Birkenstocks!

Chris's Expert Styling Tip: “Dry clean your cheap clothes. Most of it just doesn't hold up to washing. Oh yeah and I have tons of cashmere. It's durable and outrageously soft and I wear it four seasons here”.

Chris's real joy, is her little dude Aiden and her latest venture, aysta.net.  Aysta is a chic, but super pure spray for the body and home..it's natural and smells amazing.  Who doesn't need that? Chris is my Parent of The Week!
