Eric. Aspen, Colorado. August 2016.
Eric and his son skateboarded to a local pizza place in Aspen, after the town’s summer event – The Ducky Derby – a fundraiser where about 30,000 rubber ducks “race” down Aspen’s Roaring Fork River, money raised goes to local youth organizations.
Eric’s wife Sarah owns a store called http://www.grayaspen.com – The store carries a collection of classic pieces with a bit of a bohemian tone – based on Eric’s style, I imagine they are a pretty cool looking couple.
Tank Tops are really current for men right now – they are reminiscent of the late 1970’s California surf culture – — I guess it seems that most men are borrowing from that hippie/intellectual/surfer 1970’s look – I happen to LOVE it.
Man Buns: I love them. They are cool and Eric knows how to pull it off. I know many of you poke fun of the good old man bun, but you know you love it! Let’s talk shorts on men, they can go very wrong, but this dad know how to make shorts look causal and cool – not dorky. The length is perfect, not too long, not too short – no pleats…
Eating a quick slice…
Father/son Van action… love it!!
Autumn. Aspen, August 2015.
Posing in front of the volunteer run firehouse in Aspen.
Fashion Notes: Sandals: Cooperative from Urban Outfitters, Bag: Louis Vuitton, Dress: Cerre, Hat: Barney’s New York’s private label
Autumn was raised in Aspen and after living in Los Angeles and London, she and her man (a Brit) decided to raise their family in this gorgeous town. I love hanging out with Autumn in Aspen because she knows everyone and is so fun! Even with a “newish” baby, Autumn makes time to go out. It’s hard being a new mom, and very important to remember your individual self outside of motherhood –
How cute are they? Love Autumn’s use of layering with her pearl chains. And her exposed shoulders add a little classy sexy edge…
Naju and Hunter. Aspen, Colorado. August 2015.
A pretty tattoo on a sexy back….always looks cool.
Naju, originally from Brazil is wearing jewelry made in Brazil by her designer sister.
Fashion Notes: Glasses: Louis Vuitton, Hat: Asos, Jumpsuit: H&M, Watch: Nixon, Sandals: Corso Como
Rompers are so current – just in this weekend’s New York Times, Fashion of the Times featured Taylor Swift, as the fashion teacher when it comes to rompers. The spread shows New Yorkers on the street, beating the heat in adorable rompers. Naju says this jump suit is the easiest staple to throw on, and still look fashionable running after a toddler.
Floppy hat and glasses… if you want to get dressed in a hurry, and still look so cool.
Moranda. Aspen. August 2015.
Moranda and her family just moved from Los Angeles to Aspen this week – I spotted her at the local park with her family. We have a lot in common – Moranda and her husband send their kids to a Waldorf school too…see how hip Waldorf parents can be?
Ya know what I love about Aspen summer weather? You can wear jackets and boots!! And your hair still looks good – it’s not humid. I find places like Miami so hard to dress stylish – it’s just so hot in the summer, you really have to wear next to nothing.
It takes a lot of guts to move to a new city, especially from a large, metropolitan city like LA to a smaller town like Aspen. But I obviously understand the appeal – it’s empowering to start fresh and fun to live in a place that’s small. Kids in Aspen have a lot more freedom.
And Moranda brings great style to a town known for its workout style. At night in Aspen, you see great fashion and during the day you see exercise clothing, but stylish exercise clothing. Ripped leggings, off the shoulder crop tops, bright sneakers and funky sunglasses. It’s refreshing to see some LA fashion make its debut during prime “hiking” hours.
The cobblestone streets of Aspen make it very hard to wear anything other then sneakers, sandals or boots..heels are kind of impossible in this town.
Moranda and her adorable family. Aspen got way cooler this week!
Fashion Notes: Boots: Anine Bing, Hat: Rag and Bone, Sweator: 360 Cashmere, Dress: Tylie, Basket: purchased at Whole Foods in Hawaii
Caryn. Aspen, Colorado. August 2014.
Caryn likes quality, as I assessed during our conversation about fashion. Residing in Miami with her husband and two kids, Caryn was another lucky mama able to enjoy the incredible Aspen summer. When I talk about Aspen, I feel a little weird, because it sounds a bit out of touch..and I get that most people aren’t using “summering” as a verb – i’m certainly not.
Like i’ve mentioned before, Miami is brutal in the summer and people who can escape the humidity to hike, bike and be outside in gorgeous Aspen – definitely take full advantage. This is why Aspen is filled with Dallas and Miami visitors in the summer – they all need an escape. Aspen is a town filled with high end stores, amazing thrift shops (I will share my finds soon), music festivals (mostly classical and Jazz), bars, free buses etc… It’s a gift to be able to breathe the fresh air in the summer and spend time with my family.
And talk about music..besides the incredible musicians you hear all over town, studying at the prestigious Aspen Music School, Aspen is also home to the iconic Belly Up. Belly Up is a special place to hear music in an intimate setting. We saw Ryan Adams, Super Diamond (The Neil Diamond cover band) and Aimee Mann and Ted Leo. Every night at Belly Up is another impressive band..some less known..some famous..but all really unique and talented. And back to fashion….
I LOVE Caryn’s white Celine handbag. White “pocketbooks” were really big this summer, I got an amazing one..and will be wearing it all year, winter white baby! And I’m pretty confident white leather boots, will be worn on the most fashionable feet this fall….
Fashion Notes: Handbag: Celine, Shorts: J.Crew, Cashmere Sweater: Chan Luu, purchased at the boutique 02 Aspen, Sunglasses: Prada, Watch: Cartier and Flip-Flops: Louis Vuitton
Delfina. Aspen, Colorado. August 2014.
This shot was taken at the Aspen Skating Competition – it was so awesome to watch skaters fly on the half pipe – from young kids to men and women. Originally from Argentina, Delfina currently makes her home in Aspen, where she works as a mental health counselor.
Aspen style is all about combining athletic gear with stylish pieces – to make it look not so “athletic”. Ya see in Aspen, most people hike, bike, rock climb, raft, kayak
daily..so everyone is prepared. It’s a Lulu Lemon/Gucci combination kind of town..and throw in some bohemian Moccasins for good measure..
Fashion Notes: Bag: Nine West, Kicks: Guess, Jacket: Lulu Lemon, Glasses: Michael Kors
Aspen, Colorado. August 2014.
Ran into this skating family in Aspen – spending a vacation in this gorgeous town, from their home in Orange County, California. Love this mom’s urban – sporty – California look.
Erin. Mom. Magazine Editor-in-Chief. Aspen, Colorado. August 2013.
Erin Lentz is the Editor-in-Chief of Aspen Peak magazine, one of 12 publications by Niche Media. Aspen Peak http://aspenpeak-magazine.com/, captivates, and celebrates Aspen’s elevated lifestyle, covering philanthropy, real estate, fashion dining, nightlife, outdoors, and culture. When she’s not chasing after her toddler, you’ll find her on a mountain bike or snowboard.
I saw Erin at Aspen’s famous Ducky Derby, and she looked effortlessly stylish. When she told me she was the Editor of Aspen Peak, it came as no surprise. Aspen is a town that seems so “fancy” from the outside, but it’s filled with culture, outdoor activities, FREE public bus service, incredible music and an overall sense of community… it really is much different from its outside perception. Erin represents the Aspen parent well..she not only runs a major magazine while raising a child, dresses with great style, but she also snow boards and mountain bikes.. who doesn’t in Aspen?
Fashion Notes: Dress by Michael Kors, Aviator Sunglasses by Ray Ban, and jewelry from Pitkin County Dry Goods.
Katrina. Mom of four. Aspen, Colorado. August 2013.
I met this European mother, now living in Aspen at a science fair in town. She exudes European style, which to me, is looking cool without trying hard. And it’s quite amazing to have such great style with four kids in tow.. now I really have no excuses!
This mom looks so fashionable on the slopes in Aspen dropping her son off at ski school. I’ve seen so many stylish parents on the slopes as well as kids with bright colors cruising down the mountains. It’s also fun to check out the fashion of the snowboarders, who always looks so amazingly cool…
