Chris. Mom. Stylist. Entrepreneur. San Anselmo, California. September 2013.
Chris is a stylist in the commercial and film industry. Hailing from a small town in Minnesota, Chris moved to San Francisco after college, where she began her career as a fashion stylist. Chris also met and fell in love with her “amazing and gorgeous” husband while they were both working on a movie. Three years ago they moved from San Francisco to Marin County and are “overjoyed with the barefoot lifestyle up here”.
Fashion Notes: Alexander Wang handbag, Theyskens' blazer, Rag and Bone boots and apparel from H &M and target. I find that individuals with natural style (including yours truly :)) are gifted in the art of mixing designers and price points. Chris wears her style well and tends to frequent the same look a few days in a row…I can relate to that as if I find a jacket I love, I will wear it with everything. I also really like Chris's bedazzeled Birkenstocks!
Chris's Expert Styling Tip: “Dry clean your cheap clothes. Most of it just doesn't hold up to washing. Oh yeah and I have tons of cashmere. It's durable and outrageously soft and I wear it four seasons here”.
Chris's real joy, is her little dude Aiden and her latest venture, aysta.net. Aysta is a chic, but super pure spray for the body and home..it's natural and smells amazing. Who doesn't need that? Chris is my Parent of The Week!
April. Mom. Owner of Dollface Beauty. San Rafael, California. September 2013.
April is so chic looking… and believe me wearing heels in Northern California takes serious commitment and incredible balance. Walking down unpaved and steep streets is hard enough in “un”chic shoes, but in heels, it's comparable to running a marathon in stilettos (okay I'm exaggerating as usual and have never attempted participating in a marathon or running one wearing heels)
April is the owner of Dollface Beauty in San Anselmo, California. This den of beauty provides all of the beauty services, like make-overs and eyelash extensions and the not so fun, but imperative stuff like waxing…..Check out this beautifying spot, www.dollfacemarin.com
I like how April adds some color with her bright shoes and the gold hardware on her very glamorous looking handbag. Her son's silly face is pretty cute!!
San Rafael, California. September 2013
Fashion Notes: Isabel Marant skirt, suede ankle boots, distressed denim button down, glamorous and oversized sunglasses and gorgeous beach hair.
This mom has a natural fashion sense. She doesn't need to make any attempts at being stylish, because it's part of her persona.
The minute I spotted this mom, the famous offsprings of Mrs. Carolina Herrera came to mind. Carolina and Patricia Herrera have been fashion icons since they were young teens. Carolina has always been a little more edgier with a mix of her mother's classic sophistication – and that's a killer combination. The down to earth style of Mrs. Herrera's daughters has always been appealing to me, they are both stunning, but never overdone—it's that messy look I love, never perfect, but with a natural fashion sense and an inner sex appeal.
Fraser. Dad. Fairfax, California. September 2013.
Fashion Notes: Jeans: Levi's, Button Down: J.Crew, Green Rain Boots: Hunter
I really like the cuffed jeans with the green rain boots. Nice look on this dad!
Kitty. Mill Valley, California. September 2013.
Kitty looks interesting from the outside and is just as interesting on the inside. This gorgeous mamma is also an Actor, Theater Teacher and model. Kitty has an impressive resume filled with various roles she has taken on over the years. Her style is creative, bold and when you see Kitty, you just know she belongs in the spotlight.
Kitty began Shakespearience in 2006 to bring Shakespeare to Kindergarten through 12th grades. Now, she and partner Scott Coopwood, are bringing this dynamic program to schools in San Francisco, as well as the North and East Bay.
They have built classes for Scene Study, Hamlet Soliloquies, Monologue Study, Fight Scenes, Improv, Private Coaching, Sonnets and more. They utilize their award winning expertise to bring to life the words of William, with the genius of the childrens’ perspective…If you live in the Bay Area, check out Shakespearience, http://shakespearienceworkshops.com/ a great program with dynamic actors leading the classes.
Exposing children to acting has so many benefits and teaches children how to be expressive, confident and creative. Kitty is certainly a creative mamma and a perfect “Parent of the Week”.
Mona. New Jersey. September 2013.
Fashion Notes: Jacket: Current Elliot, Jeans: Adriano Goldschmied, T-shirt: James Perse, Ankle boots: Stuart Weitzman, Earrings: Stella & Dot
Loving this photo. And really happy to finally have a New Jersey Drop-Off. I admit, I really want big hair, stereotypical Jersey Drop-Off, but I am so happy with Mona and her daughter..they are even wearing similar jeans!
Mona is an Autism activist who raises awareness and education via social media. That's pretty special xx
Jaleh. Mom. Photographer. Amazing Human. Miami’s Design District. June 2013.
Jaleh is a talented photographer and overall great person. She generously takes photos for me when she spots a stylish parent in Miami Beach, and Jaleh happens to be one of these stylish moms!! xx
Allison. San Anselmo, California. September 2013.
“Fashion” Truck Notes: 1976 International Harvester Scout in bright Yellow.
I spotted this truck and was picturing myself cruising around a beach town with a huge surf board in the back, all part of the “look”. And out comes Allison and her crew of little ones, who hopped in their Scout…I had to take a photo.
Allison is wearing her grandmother’s Coach bag from the 1970’s. I’ve noticed that in this area, fashion is expressed in so many different ways – not necessarily via clothing, but in other creative ways..like amazing trucks.
Have a great Sunday..look out for stylin’ vehicles xx Mara
Susana and Ronan. Coral Gables, Florida. August 2013.
Fashion Notes: Shoes: Prada and Pants: J.Crew
Susana loves great shoes and always funks up her tailored style with a cool shoe, she is a huge fan of Robert Clergerie..and sticks to well made, chunky styles. Susana believes in spending money on high quality shoes and I believe in stealing shoes from her fancy closet..always great to have stylish and generous friends!
San Rafael, California. September 2013.
Fashion Notes: Shoes: Simple, Button down: Faconnable, Jeans: Levi’s, Zip up cardigan: Paul & Shark (hand me down from his stylish dad)
This dad is lucky, because he looks great in clothing. He has such a clean cut look and in my “expert” opinion can get away with wearing any style, no matter how trendy. His preppy look reminds me of a beautiful Fall day in New England.. elegant, simple and rustic. Additionally, he drives a VW Van, which makes for an even better fashion editorial (next time I will include the Haute vehicle).
In addition to his day job, this father is a talented photographer.
